Aluminum Casting Process
Description
Aluminum casting process is to shape the aluminum into different forms for a variety of purposes. Cast aluminum is a specific metal that has gone through one of the several casting processes. It is created when methods such as aluminum sand casting, die casting or mold casting are used to temper the aluminum for use in creating different types of components.
This metal casting process may go through several molding processes, such as green sand, permanent mold and dry sand castings. We offer the value added services of machining, coating, pattern making, impregnation and hot isostatic pressing processes.
Aluminum casting process includes aluminum sand casting, gravity casting, low pressure casting, investment casting and die casting. Through die casting, the molten aluminum is forced into the steel mold.
Permanent mold casting can also be used to create aluminum castings. It can produce stronger aluminum castings than die casting. Aluminum sand casting is also good to use when the castings need complex designs or very large.
Application of Aluminum Casting Process
The cast aluminum is commonly used in the creation of cookware. Just as the cast iron is used for skillets, baking pans and other kitchen essentials, aluminum can also be used for these items. Using aluminum sand casting, the cookware can withstand the high temperatures required to cook food properly and will remain useful for a number of years with no more than minimal care.
Aluminum Casting Process Flows
1. Raw materials preparation
This step includes visual inspection of raw materials, chemical composition analysis and ingredients as well as weighing materials according to ingredient calculation. Also it includes drying and weighing refining agent and modifier.
2. Smelting
Please add the materials into the furnace according to a certain charging sequence and melt them into alloy with uniform chemical composition.
3. Testing for aluminum casting process
After the alloy melts evenly, sample is conducted to check whether the various chemical components meet the technical standards.
4. Adjusting the ingredient
After testing, if some chemical components exceed technical standards, they should be adjusted in order to meet the standards.
5.Refining process of aluminum sand casting
This step needs refining agents to remove the dissolved gases and entrained solid particles.
6. Refining and modifying
Adding appropriate refining agent and modifier to the aluminum alloy can improve the mechanical properties and mechanical cutting performance of aluminum alloy.
7. Poring and casting of aluminum casting process
The procedure is to cast the aluminum alloy into ingots, and the chemical composition of the aluminum alloy should be qualified. Additionally, the alloy may have good modification effects, and its gas content and dregginess meet the requirements.
8. Inspection
The qualified aluminum castings will be put in storage after inspection.
